Project Background
The West-East Gas Pipeline is China’s largest and most strategically important natural gas transmission project. It traverses diverse and challenging terrains — including the Gobi Desert, the Loess Plateau, mountain ranges, river crossings, and densely populated coastal areas. Ensuring long-term corrosion protection for this critical energy artery was a top priority for the pipeline owner.
Challenges
- Extreme terrain diversity — Desert sand abrasion, rocky mountain conditions, and water-saturated river crossings required versatile coating solutions
- High operating pressure and temperature — Coatings had to maintain adhesion and sealing performance under demanding operating conditions
- Stringent quality requirements — The project required materials meeting ISO 21809-3 and GB/T 23257 standards
- Large-scale, fast-paced construction — High-volume material supply and on-time delivery across multiple construction sections simultaneously
Jiayu’s Solutions
Jiayu provided a comprehensive range of pipeline anti-corrosion materials for the West-East Gas Pipeline, including polyethylene anti-corrosion tape (three protection levels), heat shrinkable sleeves for field joint coating, visco-elastic tape and paste for flange and valve protection, solvent-free epoxy primer, and repair patches for field coating repairs.
