Product Description

Solvent-Free Epoxy Primer is a high-performance, environmentally friendly primer formulated with modified epoxy resin as the primary film-forming material. It is solvent-free, utilizing reactive diluents and toughening agents, and incorporates适量的 flake fillers for enhanced performance.

This primer offers high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and a very high solids content. Unlike traditional solvent-based primers, it releases zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during application, making it safe for applicators and the environment.

The primer provides outstanding insulation properties, superior chemical stability, and strong adhesion to steel substrates. It cures to form a pinhole-free film in a single coat, delivering high mechanical strength and energy efficiency. It is widely used as a corrosion protection base layer for field joint coatings and major pipeline repairs, often applied underneath heat shrink sleeves, visco-elastic systems, and cold-applied tapes.

Key Features

  • 100% Solids / Solvent-Free — No VOCs, safe for operators and the environment
  • Excellent Adhesion — Bonds strongly to prepared steel and acts as an ideal substrate for tapes and sleeves
  • Pinhole-Free — Single-coat application provides a continuous barrier
  • High Chemical & Corrosion Resistance — Protects against cathodic disbondment and soil stress
  • Energy Saving — Cures efficiently without the need for high-temperature baking
  • Versatile — Compatible with all major pipeline anti-corrosion systems

Installation Guide & Precautions

Quick Application Steps (as a base layer)

  1. Surface preparation: Clean and blast the steel surface to Sa2.5级. Ensure the surface is dry and dust-free.
  2. Mixing: Solvent-free epoxies are typically 2-component (resin + hardener). Mix thoroughly according to the manufacturer‘s ratio until a uniform color is achieved.
  3. Pot life: Use the mixed primer within its pot life (typically 15-30 minutes at 20°C). Do not mix more than can be applied in this time.
  4. Application: Apply the primer evenly using a brush, roller, or airless spray gun. Aim for a continuous, void-free film of the specified dry film thickness (typically 200-400µm).
  5. Curing: Allow the primer to cure until “tack-free“ (approximately 1-2 hours depending on temperature). Over-coating should occur within the manufacturer’s recommended window (usually 2-24 hours).

Key Reminders

  • Surface is critical: Solvent-free epoxies are not forgiving of poor surface preparation. Strictly adhere to Sa2.5级.
  • Temperature limits: Apply only when the pipe surface temperature is above the dew point and between 5°C and 40°C.
  • Do not thin: Do not add solvents or thinners. This will destroy the ‘solvent-free’ properties and ruin adhesion.
  • Cleaning: Clean tools immediately after use with epoxy thinner or acceptable substitute before the resin hardens.
  • Storage: Store in original sealed containers in a dry, cool area (10°C-30°C), away from direct sunlight and moisture.
