Description

Product Description

Polyethylene anti-corrosion tape is a high-performance pipe wrapping tape manufactured by thermally laminating a butyl rubber-based adhesive onto a polyethylene backing film. It is widely used for steel pipeline corrosion protection in oil, gas, water, and chemical industries.

Three Protection Levels

The tape is available in three protection levels: Ordinary, Reinforced, and Extra Reinforced. Customers can select the appropriate level for inner tape (corrosion insulation) and outer tape (mechanical protection) according to their specific requirements, forming a complete anti-corrosion system.

Key Features & Applications

  • Cold application — no heating required, ready for backfilling immediately after wrapping
  • Strong adhesion and excellent sealing performance
  • UV resistant, aging resistant, and high compressive strength
  • Non-toxic, odorless, and environmentally friendly
  • Ideal for field joint coating, pipeline repair, and external pipe wrapping

System Composition

The complete anti-corrosion system consists of polyethylene anti-corrosion tape (inner layer) + polyethylene protective tape (outer layer) + anti-corrosion primer. The primer fills surface irregularities and enhances bonding strength between the tape and steel pipe.

Installation Guide & Precautions

Two Installation Methods

The polyethylene anti-corrosion tape can be applied by manual wrapping or mechanical wrapping machine, depending on project scale and site conditions.

Quick Installation Steps

  1. Surface preparation: Remove rust to Sa2.5 (blasting) or St3 (manual).
  2. Primer application: Apply anti-corrosion primer evenly on the prepared steel surface.
  3. Tape wrapping: Wind the tape spirally with 50-55% overlap, maintaining uniform tension.
  4. Inspection: Check for smooth overlap edges, no bubbles, wrinkles, or lifted ends.

Key Reminders

  • Backfilling can be done immediately after wrapping — no curing time required
  • For mechanized wrapping, adjust the tensioner to apply proper tension
  • Store in a dry, cool place between -10°C and 35°C, avoid direct sunlight
