Polypropylene Fiber-Reinforced Anti-Corrosion Adhesive Tape
Product Highlights
Product Description
Polypropylene reinforced fiber anti-corrosion tape is a high-performance pipe wrapping tape manufactured by coating a butyl rubber modified asphalt adhesive onto a net-like polypropylene fiber backing. This reinforced structure provides significantly higher tensile strength (≥60 MPa) and impact resistance compared to conventional polyethylene tapes. It is used with anti-corrosion primer to form a complete anti-corrosion system for buried steel pipelines.
Recommended Applications
- Oil and gas pipeline corrosion protection
- Water transmission pipeline anti-corrosion
- Chemical plant piping systems
- Power industry pipeline protection
- External pipe wrapping for buried and above-ground pipelines
- As an outer protective wrap for visco-elastic systems
System Composition
The polypropylene reinforced fiber tape is used as the primary anti-corrosion layer for steel pipelines. For optimal performance, it must be applied over an anti-corrosion primer.
- Anti-Corrosion Primer: Applied to the prepared steel surface to enhance adhesion between the tape and the pipe.
- Polypropylene Reinforced Fiber Tape (JY-102): Wrapped over the primed surface to provide the main corrosion barrier.

Installation Guide & Precautions
The polypropylene reinforced fiber tape can be applied by manual wrapping or mechanical wrapping machine. Due to its high tensile strength, a mechanical wrapper is recommended for large-diameter pipelines.
Quick Installation Steps
- Surface preparation: Remove rust to Sa2.5 (blasting) or St3 (manual).
- Primer application: Apply anti-corrosion primer evenly on the prepared steel surface.
- Tape wrapping: Wind the tape spirally with 50-55% overlap, maintaining uniform tension.
- Inspection: Check for smooth overlap edges, no bubbles, wrinkles, or lifted ends.
Key Reminders
- Backfilling can be done immediately after wrapping — no curing time required
- For mechanized wrapping, adjust the tensioner to apply proper tension — excessive tension may stretch the backing
- Store in a dry, cool place between -10°C and 35°C, avoid direct sunlight
- Due to the fiber-reinforced structure, ensure the tape is stored flat to avoid creasing
