Description

Product Description

Aluminum foil anti-corrosion tape is a cold-applied, self-adhesive, UV-resistant material. It is manufactured by coating a butyl rubber modified asphalt adhesive onto a toughened aluminum foil backing.

Thanks to the aluminum foil‘s ability to reflect UV rays and its self-passivation property, the tape offers excellent UV resistance and anti-aging performance. It is commonly used alone for roof waterproofing and above-ground pipeline protection. An anti-corrosion primer may be used as an optional enhancement for improved adhesion.

Recommended use as an outer protective wrap: This tape is an ideal outer protective wrap for visco-elastic systems. It should be applied over the visco-elastic tape (not directly over the paste) to provide additional mechanical protection and UV shielding for exposed valves, flanges, and fittings.

Key Features & Applications

  • UV resistant & anti-aging
  • Cold application — no heating required
  • Excellent tensile and tear strength
  • Waterproof & anti-corrosion
  • Widely used for roof waterproofing, leak repair, and above-ground pipeline protection.

Installation Guide & Precautions

Installation Method

The aluminum foil tape is typically applied by manual wrapping, suitable for pipes, roof repairs, and irregular surfaces.

Quick Installation Steps

  1. Surface preparation: Clean the surface to remove dust, oil, and moisture. Ensure it is dry and smooth.
  2. Cutting: Cut the tape to the required length. (For large projects, consider pre-cutting pieces to save time).
  3. Application: Remove the release film and apply the tape firmly to the surface, pressing out any air bubbles.
  4. Finishing: Overlap edges by at least 50mm for complete sealing. Press firmly to ensure good adhesion.

Key Reminders

  • Apply at temperatures above 0°C for best adhesion.
  • Avoid touching the adhesive side with fingers — oil residue may reduce bonding strength.
  • For irregular surfaces, use a roller to press the tape firmly into depressions.
  • Store in a dry, cool place below 35°C, away from direct sunlight.
